The problem

What bakeries wrestle with daily

Bakery products are perishable, made in batches, and sold in units that vary by item. That combination defeats most retail software.

  • Production planning by guesswork

Baking too much means waste by evening; baking too little means empty shelves by afternoon. Both happen when planning is based on memory.

  • Custom orders scattered on slips

Cake orders with dates, flavours, messages and advances get written on pads and occasionally missed entirely.

  • Weight and piece in one counter

Biscuits by kilo, patties by piece, cakes by pound. The counter must handle all three without slowing down.

  • Daily wastage never quantified

Unsold bread and pastries are written off informally, so nobody knows the real cost of over-production.

  • Ingredient cost moving constantly

Flour, sugar, butter and cream prices change often, and menu prices are rarely updated to match.

Why this solution

Why bakeries choose OfflinePOS

Bakery POS handles both sides of the business, the shop counter and the production floor, with custom order management for the cake side that most POS software simply does not have.

  • Selling by weight, piece and pound on the same counter
  • Custom cake orders with advance, delivery date and specification
  • Production planning built from actual sales history
  • Batch production entry with ingredient consumption
  • Daily wastage recording and reporting
  • Recipe costing that updates when ingredient rates change

Built for bakery businesses

A bakery is a factory and a shop at the same time. Bakery POS covers counter sales by weight and piece, custom cake orders with advances, and production planning based on what actually sells.

How it works

A day in the system

From stock arriving to the day closing, this is the loop your business runs every day.
  1. 01

    Plan the day

Use sales history for the same weekday to set production quantities for each product.

  2. 02

    Produce and record

Enter batch production, which consumes ingredients from stock and adds finished goods.

  3. 03

    Sell at the counter

Weigh or count items and bill quickly, with end-of-day markdowns where needed.

  4. 04

    Take custom orders

Record the cake specification, delivery date and advance, and send the slip to production.

  5. 05

    Record wastage

Log unsold and damaged items at closing so wastage is measured rather than assumed.

  6. 06

    Review margins

Compare production, sales and wastage to tune tomorrow’s plan and check product margins.

Reporting

The numbers you will actually look at

Every report is available on screen, as PDF and as Excel, for any date range you choose.

Reports run against your local database, so they open instantly and work whether or not you have a connection.

  • Daily sales by product and category
  • Production versus sales variance
  • Wastage report by product
  • Custom order schedule and pending balances
  • Recipe cost and margin by product
  • Ingredient consumption and stock
  • Raw material re-order report
  • Weekday sales pattern analysis
  • Counter versus custom order revenue
  • Cash summary with expenses
Offline-first architecture

Bakery POS keeps working when the internet does not

Your business should not stop because your connection did. Here is what offline-first means in practice.

The terminal holds its own data

Products, prices, customers, stock positions and settings live on the machine at your counter. A sale reads and writes locally, so nothing in the billing flow waits on a server response.

Sales complete without a connection

Scanning, billing, discounting, printing, returns and stock updates all work with the network unplugged. There is no queue of "pending" transactions holding up the counter.

Terminals reconcile when connectivity returns

When the shop network or internet comes back, terminals exchange the transactions recorded while they were isolated, and the back office reflects the complete picture.

Connectivity is used, not depended on

When you do have a connection, it powers off-site backup, remote reporting and multi-branch consolidation. None of those are required to make a sale.

Bakery POS runs locally on the shop and production machines, so counter sales and order taking continue during outages. Ingredient stock, production entries and custom orders remain fully available with no connection.

What changes

The difference after a few weeks

Not features, outcomes. This is what businesses tell us actually changes once the system is running properly.

Less waste at closing

Planning from weekday sales patterns brings production much closer to actual demand.

No missed cake orders

A dated order schedule with advances recorded means nothing is forgotten or delivered late.

Prices that reflect real cost

Recipe costing updates as ingredient rates change, so margins do not quietly disappear.

A counter that handles every unit

Weight, piece and pound selling all work without slowing the queue.

Production and shop connected

Finished goods, sales and wastage move through one system rather than three registers.

FAQ

Bakery POS questions

Something specific to your setup? Ask us. We would rather tell you honestly whether we fit than sell you the wrong thing.

Can I sell items by weight?

Yes. Items can be configured to sell by kilo or gram with counter scale support, alongside items sold by piece or by pound, all on the same counter.

How are custom cake orders handled?

A custom order records the flavour, size, design notes, message, collection or delivery date, and the advance paid. It appears on the production schedule and on a pending-order list until it is collected and the balance is settled.

Does it help decide how much to bake?

Yes. Production planning uses your sales history for the same weekday and season, so quantities are based on observed demand rather than memory.

Can I track flour, sugar and butter consumption?

Yes. Recipes attached to products consume raw materials when production is recorded, giving you live ingredient stock and an accurate cost per product.

How do I record unsold items at the end of the day?

Wastage is entered at closing against each product, so it appears in reporting as a measured cost and can be compared against production quantities.
