Frequently asked questions

How offline operation actually works, what hardware you need, how migration happens, and what support looks like once you are live.

General

About the product

What does "offline-first" actually mean?

It means the software on your counter holds its own copy of your products, prices, customers and stock, and completes a sale entirely on that machine. Nothing in the billing flow waits for a server. If your internet or shop network is interrupted, billing, printing, stock updates and ledger entries all continue exactly as normal, and terminals reconcile with each other once the connection returns.

Which businesses is OfflinePOS for?

We build industry-specific solutions rather than one generic product. There are currently dedicated solutions for marts and supermarkets, pharmacies and medical stores, restaurants and cafes, garments and footwear, electronics and mobile shops, wholesale and distribution, salons and spas, auto parts and workshops, hardware and building material, agri inputs, meat shops and more. The full list is on the solutions page.

What hardware do I need?

A standard Windows computer at your counter, a USB barcode scanner if you use barcodes, and a thermal receipt printer. A cash drawer, customer display and counter scale are optional depending on your business. There is no proprietary hardware requirement, in most cases the equipment you already have will work.

Can I move from my existing software or from registers?

Yes. We import products, barcodes, prices, opening stock and outstanding customer and supplier balances from spreadsheets or from most existing POS systems. If you are coming from paper registers, we help you build the initial product list and opening balances as part of setup.

How long does it take to go live?

A single-counter shop is usually billing within a few days. Larger setups with several counters, multiple branches or significant data migration typically take one to three weeks. The main variable is how quickly your product list and opening stock can be prepared, and we help with that.

Do you provide training and support?

Yes. Installation, configuration, data setup and staff training are included with every plan. Support is provided by phone, WhatsApp and remote assistance during business hours, and we stay closely involved through your first month of live operation.

Can I run more than one branch?

Yes. Each branch operates independently with its own stock and counters, and consolidated reporting brings them together for head-office management. Stock transfers between branches and branch-wise pricing are supported.

Is my data safe if the computer fails?

Automatic local backups run on a schedule, and off-site backup is available when you have a connection. If a machine fails, we restore your data on a replacement machine and you continue from where you stopped.

Can I see my sales when I am not at the shop?

Yes. Once a terminal has synced, summary and detailed reports are available from the management interface on a laptop or phone. This uses your internet connection, but it is a convenience layer, it is never required for the shop to keep trading.

What if there is no solution listed for my business?

Tell us what you do. Several of our current solutions started as a request from a business that did not see itself on the list. If your workflow is close to an existing solution we will configure that; if it genuinely needs something different, we will tell you honestly whether we can build it.

Pricing

About cost and licensing

Full detail is on the pricing page.

Why are prices not listed on the website?

Because a fair price depends on the number of terminals, the number of branches, the industry module you need and how much data migration is involved. Quoting a single headline figure would be misleading for most businesses. Tell us about your setup and you will have a written quotation, usually within one working day.

Is OfflinePOS a one-time purchase or a subscription?

Both options are available. Most single-branch businesses choose the one-time licence per terminal, which includes the first year of updates and support. Multi-branch operations often prefer the annual subscription because support, updates and off-site backup are bundled throughout.

Is the licence per terminal or per branch?

Licences are counted per billing terminal. A shop with two counters needs two terminal licences. Back-office and reporting access for the owner or manager is included and is not counted as a terminal.

What happens after the first year?

With a one-time licence, the software continues working indefinitely. An annual support and update plan is optional. If you choose not to renew, you keep using the version you have, but you will not receive new updates or included support.

Do you charge extra for training and setup?

Standard installation, data setup and staff training are included in every plan. On-site training outside your city, or unusually large data migrations, may involve an additional cost, which we tell you about in the quotation rather than afterwards.

Can I start small and add terminals later?

Yes. Additional terminals and branches can be added at any time without changing systems or re-entering data. Businesses commonly start with one counter and expand as they grow.

Is there a demo before I decide?

Yes, and we recommend it. A demo is a walkthrough of the specific solution for your industry using realistic data, so you can judge whether the workflow fits your business before any commitment.

By industry

Questions specific to your business

Every solution page carries its own FAQ section covering that industry in detail.

Pharmacy POS: Does it track batch numbers and expiry dates?

Yes, at the core of the system. Batch number and expiry are captured on every purchase, stock is held per batch, and the counter automatically sells the nearest-expiry batch first. Expired batches are blocked from sale.

Mart POS: Can it handle loose items sold by weight?

Yes. Mart POS reads weight-embedded barcodes printed by counter scales, so a 1.240 kg pack of dates scans with the correct weight and price. You can also sell by entering quantity directly in kilos or grams.

Restaurant POS: How does shift closing work?

Each staff member opens a shift with a counted float and closes it with a counted total. The system shows expected versus counted cash and records the variance against that shift, along with all discounts and voids made during it.

Wholesale POS: How are partial payments handled?

A receipt can be applied across one or several invoices, in any amounts. The system records exactly which invoice each rupee settled, so the ledger and the ageing report stay accurate no matter how irregular the payments are.

Garments POS: How does size and colour tracking actually work?

You define an article once with its size set and available colours, and the system creates every size-colour combination as a separately stocked variant. Purchases, sales, exchanges, transfers and reports all operate at that level, so you always know exactly which combinations you hold.

Mobile Shop POS: Does it record IMEI numbers?

Yes. IMEI is captured when handsets are purchased and matched or scanned again at sale, so each device has a complete record linking supplier, purchase date, customer and sale date. Dual-SIM devices with two IMEI numbers are supported.
